Unusual

Last year I had the opportunity to make roman blinds & pelmets for a charming, bijou cottage. The period cottage had been sensitively renovated to a high standard by a young couple with lovely taste.

An elegant embroidered linen mix fabric was chosen for the blinds & pelmets throughout with the exceptions of the shower room & bathroom.

Roman blinds pattern matched to the pelmets & comfortable seat cushions were made for the built in bench seats in the dining area & tiny entrance hall.

The windows to the front of the property had the staircase crossing them & could’ve posed a challenge. I made a template & took ample measurements before making up a shaped roman blind to fit the unusual space whilst it still, of course, being child safe compliant.

Working in a period cottage with somewhat wonky walls always poses a challenge but the home owners were determined to make their chosen style work & assisted by preparing the staircase window wall so that a long, narrow pelmet could be fitted above the windows. The top of the pelmet would be seen by anyone descending the stairs so that also had to be visually pleasing.

I’m delighted by how it all came together & so were my clients;

Thank you again for your wonderful work the blinds really are the most perfect finishing touch!”
